Susan, a true Colorado Western Slope Shirley Temple Cowgirl with red boots, was born in Monte Vista and raised in Denver, by her parents John I. and Shirley L. Turner. She was a beloved big sister to her twin brothers and sister. Susan began her adult life as a young mother and wife, raising her son, Andrew, and later her daughter, Carissa. While nurturing her children, she completed her Masters of Sociology at the University of Colorado, pursued her passion for fashion by owning a clothing boutique, Chanteuse, on the Pearl Street Mall, and worked as a career counselor and educator. Susan persevered, and was a fiercely protective mother with deep and unconditional love. She cried at times but always sang, played the piano, and gardened her way through life. Later she met and married her rock and companion Robert ‘Bob’ Greenwald. She thrived with his love in their dream home out in the country, with a big garden to play in as a certified master gardener, worked as a trained facilitator in restorative justice, and adorned us with beautiful and heartfelt knick-knacks. The green countryside and lifestyle suited her perfectly, bringing out all her beauty, and making her shine as bright as the sun.
As we say goodbye, she is reunited with her late husband Bob. She is back safe in his arms and will remain forever in our hearts. Susan was preceded in death by her parents and husband Bob. She is survived by her three siblings Donn Turner (Mary Kay), Ft Collins, CO; Bruce Turner (Veronique), Geneva, CH; and Anne Becker (Russ), Highlands Ranch, CO; son Andrew Perry (Sandy), Ames, IA; daughter Carissa (Perry) Horowitz, Santa Barbara, CA; and two grand daughters Alexandra and Savannah Perry.
A service in honor of Susan will be held at Howe Mortuary in Longmont on June 7, 2024 at 2:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to the Longmont Community Justice Partnership.
