Ron was born May 17, 1945, in Denver, to Dolly (Hawn) and Arthur Pomeroy, and grew up in Golden. Shortly after graduating from Golden High in 1963, he enlisted in the United States Navy where he served as an Aviation Machinist's Mate (Reciprocating Engine Mechanic) and Air Crewman during the Vietnam War. In 1965 while stationed at Barbers Point, Hawaii, he married his high school sweetheart, Karen Lynn Coskey. He received an Honorable Discharge in 1967 and they returned to Colorado to spend the rest of their 56 years together. Ron worked for IBM, spending his career at the Boulder site from 1967 until his retirement in 2005. They lived 35 years in Longmont and moved to Johnstown in 2004.
Ron was an avid outdoorsman, hunter, fisherman, golfer and woodworker. He loved to entertain at home with all of his lifelong IBM friends. He was highly skilled at his woodworking and made many gifts for friends’ children, and personal home furnishings. Above all, his greatest pleasure was his family.
Ron is survived by his wife, Lynn, son, Stephan (Terri), daughter-in-law, Shelly, grandchildren, Meghan (Josh), Chad, Chase (Gracian), and Lily, and his great-grandchildren, Camden, Logan, and Luke. He is also survived by his sister, Pat Granquist, brother, Mike Pomeroy, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son Jeffrey Pomeroy.
A Celebration of Life was held for Ron on Thursday, March 10, 2022 at LifeBridge Christian Church in Longmont, CO. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all those that were able to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ron's memory to The Wounded Warrior Project.
