Roberta Louise “Bobbie” Johnson, of Longmont, passed away at TRU Community Care of Boulder on Sunday, January 29, 2017. She was 83. Bobbie was born October 4, 1933 in Bellflower, California to Pete and Eva (Cooke). Bobbie was a retired Records Officer for the City of Boulder Police Department.
Bobbie was married to Richard Scruggs in Los Angeles on June 6, 1955. Survivors include her sons, William E. and Joseph P. (Cheryl) of Longmont and John P. (Helen) and David S. of Berthoud; Grandchildren, Kelly-Ann (Christopher), David, Jason, Morgan, Joey, Daniel (Jenna), Brandon and Joleen; Great-Granchildren, Logan, Matthew, Jordyn, Silas and Aria and a brother, Stan Prichard; in addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Richard R. and siblings, Ruby and Glen.
Bobbie was known to be a strong woman. She had to be to raise five sons, work and maintain a household. Some of her interests included ballroom dancing and country music. Bobbie also enjoyed baseball at all levels. She especially rooted on the Colorado Rockies. She started playing baseball herself at age 15 up until age 50. Throughout that time, she played on women’s clubs and with semi-pro teams. She also enjoyed playing softball.
A private family Celebration of Life will be held and Bobbie’s urn will be placed at Mountain View Cemetery in Longmont.
