Robert “Bob” E. Ford Jr, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2021 in Firestone, Colorado. He was born November 23, 1951 in Los Angeles, California to the late Robert and Imogene (Reeves) Ford.
Bob grew up and attended schools in the Los Angeles area. He graduated from John Marshall High School and later attended California State University, Los Angeles.
Following school, Bob worked as an officer with the California State Police and then the Pasadena Police Department.
While working in Pasadena, Bob would bring doughnuts in for the Emergency Room evening staff at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena. He was affectionately known as the “Doughnut Man.” Through that generosity he met his future wife, Janis, who was an ER nurse at the time.
After starting a family with Janis, they moved to Colorado where he operated Rocky Mountain Arms for the next twenty five years. In retirement he spent much of his time supporting the Green Mill Sportsman’s Club, where he served as president.
Bob is survived by a host of family that includes his devoted wife, Janis B. Ford; loving children Amy (Travis) Homyak of Frederick, CO; Brian (Austyn) Ford of Arroyo Grande, CA; precious grandchildren, Liam, Emery, Alec, and Logan; as well as many cousins and friends. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his brother, Kevin Ford.
A memorial service for Bob will be held on MONDAY, MARCH 15th AT 2PM at Howe Mortuary, 439 Coffman St, Longmont, CO. For those able to attend the family asks that Hawaiian print is worn in lieu of black; for those unable to attend in person, a livestream will be available.
Bob’s family asks that in lieu of sending flowers, a donation be made to the Colorado Fallen Hero Foundation in his name; as his support for the law enforcement community was boundless.
