Patricia Ann Carter passed from this life on April 20, 2024 in Longmont, Colorado at 80 years old. She was born July 21, 1943 in Fort Madison, Iowa to Morton Wetteland and Ima (Huss) Wetteland. Patti graduated from Fort Madison High School in 1961, and married Jerry Dale Carter there on January 25, 1963. They remained together until his passing May 2, 2019. She worked on a meat packing line at Oscar Mayer in Davenport , Iowa, but that was not her life's center. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who enjoyed cooking and baking, watching detective, medical, and game shows, as well as her Iowa Hawkeyes, and, more recently, the Colorado Avalanche, so she could learn about hockey to watch her grandson Conor play. She loved her grandsons lavishly. She went through a lot of crossword puzzle books She snuggled with and fed her cats Ralphie and Scarlett. Patti took the leap and came to Mead with her family from Bettendorf, Iowa in February of 2022. She was awed by the views of the Rocky Mountains and the always changing weather. Patti was preceded in passing by her much loved husband of nearly 60 years, her parents, her brothers Morton (Bill) Wetteland, Palmer (Pep) Wetteland, Frank Wetteland, sisters Bette Knapp and Cleme Sly, and some cherished nieces and nephews. Patti is survived by her sisters Deirdre Wetteland, Pekin, IL, and Hilda Sisk, Davenport, Iowa, son Jason Carter, Clinton, Iowa, her daughter Carissa (Carter) Huffman and son-in-law Patrick Huffman, Mead, Colorado, grandsons Ethan Carter and Garrett Carter, Camanche, Iowa and Conor Huffman, Mead, Colorado, as well as many greatly loved nephews and nieces. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at the Rock Island (Illinois) Arsenal National Cemetery. Memorial services will be set at a later date.
