Mike was born in Mineola, Long Island on October 21st, 1965. He attended Saint Joseph’s Regional High School in Montvale, New Jersey. A remarkable athlete, Mike started for the nationally recognized varsity basketball team all 4 years he attended Saint Joe’s and became an All-State basketball player. He went on to play basketball at Lawrenceville Academy and the University of Bridgeport. He also attended Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts before moving to New Orleans, Louisiana.
In New Orleans, Mike became a manager of Brennan’s Restaurant and The Court Of Two Sisters in the heart of the French Quarter. While working in the Quarter, Mike met and married an extremely charismatic tour guide and the love of his life, Sara Marie Kelley. They had a son and named him Jack.
After Hurricane Katrina, in 2008, Mike, Sara and Jack moved to Boulder, where Mike became the Dining Manager for Frasier Meadows Retirement Community [in Boulder]. They eventually settled in Longmont.
Mike is preceded in death by his wife, Sara, his sister, Claudia, and his father-in-law Jim Kelley. He is survived by his son, Jack, his brothers Chris and Jay, his parents Michael and Charlotte, his siblings-in-law David and Phoebe Kelley and Wendell and Tim Pohlman, his nieces and nephews Isabel, Alice, Sara, Colleen and Alex, along with his parents-in-law Patricia Kelley and Craig Hafner. Mike is also survived by, and will be missed by, an incredible group of friends.
