Michael Stephen Dougherty found eternal peace on Sunday, May 21, 2017 when he passed away in Longmont, Colorado.Michael enjoyed the outdoors, loved to fly fish and stayed active hiking and enjoying nature. Michael enjoyed discussing current events and knew a great deal about cars. He attended Front Range Community College and worked for a number of years at Frontier Honda in Longmont where he befriended many colleagues and customers.Michael was a member of Heart of Longmont Methodist Church, where he had many friends.The great comedian Robin Williams once said I think the saddest people always try their hardest to make people happy.Michael loved to make people laugh. He knew how to tell great jokes and use hilarious one-liners to put a smile on just about anyone's face. It brought him great joy to socialize with others and help out when he could.Michael who lived in Georgia during his teenage and young adult years, loved eating barbecue and cheering on his Atlanta Falcons.He is survived by three daughters: Michelle McCreary of Augusta, Georgia; Savannah Aulton of Topeka, Kansas; and Stephanie Dougherty of Ft Collins, Colorado; as well his parents, Stephen Dougherty of Cartersville, Georgia and Donna Ilgen of Quincy, Illinois, and three grandchildren: Logan Dean, Derek, and Audrey, all of Augusta, Georgia.Friends and family will gather for an informal remembrance of Michael at Heart of Longmont Church on Thursday, June 1 at 4:30 PM.
