Joan was born in Cookeville Tennessee in July of 1932 to Otto Palo Masters and Lena Rose Terry. She was Salutatorian at Central High School in Cookeville and did admin work for Southern Continental Telephone Co. making 50 cents an hour. She met her first husband Bill Morton when they literally ran into each other in a hallway intersection at the telephone company, which led to a 52 year marriage and two children. After Bill passed, she met Al Moxon on a trip to Israel. They later married and had 14 good years together.
Joan held various administrative positions throughout her long career, including Executive Assistant to the President of UCAR. While working as an HR Professional for Longmont United Hospital, she was voted “Business Associate of the Year” for 1982 from the American Business Women’s Assn of Longmont. She enjoyed sewing and won a blue ribbon at the county fair for a three-piece suit. She loved God and was active in her church, teaching Sunday School and a Bible study. She was baptized in the River Jordan.
Joan is survived by her daughter, Rosanne Jacobsen, son-in-law Jordan, brother Jack Masters and his wife Mary-Betty, sister Janet Lowe and her husband Monte, granddaughter Lyndsey, her husband Nick, great grandchildren Grace and Ryder, and many nieces, nephews and their children. She was predeceased by her beloved son, Carl Morton, and two husbands, Bill Morton and Al Moxon. She was loved by many and will be missed.
