James Kent Ball of Longmont, CO., passed away at his home on March 7th, 2021. James was born in Brazil, Indiana on December 7th, 1937 to James and Virginia Ball. The family moved to Honeyville, Utah in 1940, where he milked many cows on his grandfather's farm. James joined the U.S. Army in 1955, completing his basic training in Ft. Carson, CO and jump school in Ft. Campbell, KY. He was stationed in Germany with the 11th Airborne Division. Upon being discharged, he returned to Utah where he married his wife of 59 years, Karon Johnston. They had two children, Diana and James. James worked as a backhoe operator for 20 years in Brigham, UT before moving to Longmont in 1980 to become an owner/operator for Atlas Van Lines.
James is preceded in death by his mother and father, his brother Dennis Ball, son James Ball, and daughter Diana Ooten. He is survived by his wife Karon Ball, brother John Wheeler, five grandchildren Ashley Brooks (Cody), Ryan Ooten (Juliana), Kasey Pate (Michael), Karlee Ball, and James "JD" Ball, and 5 great-grandchildren. He will be deeply missed.
