Hugh Robert Thompson, of Longmont, Colorado, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2022. Bob was born May 10, 1928, in Indianapolis, Indiana. After graduating from Indianapolis Arsenal Technical High School in 1947, he studied journalism at Butler University. He was later drafted into the Army, where he served his country with honor during the Korean war. Through his working career, Bob was a railroad scheduler, accountant, court reporter, lighting store owner, and business entrepreneur.
Bob loved his Lord, his family & his friends. He was a faithful husband, father, son and brother, who served & sacrificed for his family and his church. Everyone who knew Bob was blessed by his jovial demeanor and a never-ending sense of humor that lasted literally until his final hours. Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Trula Frances (Mineer) Thompson, his parents, Carl David Thompson and Cora Edna (Gallimore) Thompson, one sister & three brothers. He is survived by children Daniel (Elise) Thompson, of Berthoud, Colorado, Debra Rushing of Longmont, Colorado, and Phillip Thompson of Grand Junction, Colorado, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Family and friends will celebrate God’s faithfulness in Bob’s life at his funeral to be held at 10am on Friday, October 21, at Calvary Church in Longmont. Pastor Jamie Mitchell will officiate.
