Gary was born December 15, 1948 in Denver, Colorado the son of Richard Bryce
and Laverne (Kenaston) Ball. He graduated from CU with a Bachelors Degree in
Psychology. On February 17, 1973 he married Betty Johnston in Longmont, Colorado.
He worked as a bookkeeper for Jim Morris Environmental T-Shirt Company, but will
be most remembered for his free spirit, passion for justice, his social and environmental
activism and his music.
Over the years Gary was Co-Founder with Betty of the Mendocino Environmental Center
in Ukiah, California, and most recently affiliated with the Rocky Mountain Peace and
Justice Center, serving as the Bookkeeper and on the Spokescouncil.
Gary is survived by his mother Laverne Ball of Lakewood, CO, his wife Betty Ball of
Boulder, his brother Kevin (Anna) Ball of Denver, CO and his God-Daughter Noelle
Terez Bailey of Denver, CO.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Cremation has been entrusted to Howe Mortuary and Cremation Services in Longmont.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 21, 2011 at Bethany
United Methodist Church, 1st and King Street, Denver, CO. A Celebration of Gary’s life
will also be held at 1:00 p.m. on June 26, 2011 at the Walden Ponds.
