We were neighbors and friends when Galen, Marilyn, and their 3 young children lived in Gunbarrel Estates, CO and we attended the same church.   Galen was a gentle and kind man and our plumber back then.  He left this world too early but will be remembered for his loving personality and his wonderful family!

I am a construction manager for a residential home builder in Flower Mound, Texas and have known Galen for about 5 years.

 Every other day I looked forward to seeing Inspector Galen and must share this. Galen was one who you looked forward to see and visit with. Galen never complained about anything and he was always calm and easy going and had an uplifting spirit. As a matter of fact, when he drove off you always felt better even though he may have just failed your inspection. He was a good man and my life was blessed to have known Galen. He will indeed be missed, but never forgotten. 

Galen was strong in ways that matter. His faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was strong, and permeated every aspect of his life, and every interaction with others - family, friend, customer, classmate and even total stranger.

Galen was strong in his love for and commitment to my wonderful sister, Marilyn, his wife of nearly half a century. He exemplified Ephesians 5:25, and was a role model for me as a husband. 

Galen was strong in his love for his children and grandchildren - committed, attentive, tender and selfless. My nieces and nephew grew up secure in his love, and that legacy is now a comfort to their children as well. Just as he taught me so much about being a husband, he was a wonderful role model as a father.

Galen was strong in every way that matters, yet always humble, gentle and a joy to be around. I never felt like a brother in law. I always felt like a very fortunate little brother.    

   I first met Galen while we were both participants in Bible Study Fellowship. He was a person that I valued for his Biblical insights and was such an easy person to share  with. His friendly attitude and love for the Lord was always present and the discussions we had were always encouraging. I would have loved to have him as a leader but I knew he was serving where the Lord had called him and just glad that the group he was in would find him such a blessing. He was a good friend and I know one day we will meet again. I know that the Lord will comfort you as only He can do.

Galen and I attended junior high school and high school together.  At Boulder High, we qualified for the state high school track meet our senior year.  Galen was an excellent sprinter, strong and very fast.  But more importantly he was a fine teammate.  I hope the wonderful memories of him will sustain you now and give you comfort in the years ahead.   

I met Galen when I needed a plumber for the house I had just bought. Two other plumbers had failed to solve two existing problems, though one said he could do it by cutting through the floor joist (no way!). Galen calmly assessed the situations and fixed them both. Years later he identified the source of a mystery leak to our great relief. I so enjoyed his calm, upbeat, and friendly attitude. We missed him when he retired but bade him a fond farewell as we knew he had earned it. He graciously took the time to let us know he was leaving and to recommend someone else. I always knew I could count on Galen. I am so sorry for your loss.

My first meeting with Galen was in the early 1980s, when he was in a small group with me at a First Pres retreat, and he immediately struck me as a kind, gentle soul. He became our plumber, and we quickly discovered that he would go to extreme lengths to solve plumbing problems: once he used a jack hammer to get through our basement floor to reach a pipe that was persistently causing problems because it had moved out of alignment -- only one of several strange issues to which he brought his smile and can-do attitude over the years.

And of course it was always a pure delight to stop and have a chat at First Pres or, later, at Calvary. Our prayers are with you.

I can think of no better scripture in this difficult situation than Romans 8:38, 39: For I am certain of this: neither death nor life, no angel, no prince, nothing that exists, nothing still to come, not any power, or height or depth, nor any created thing can ever come between us and the love of God made visible in Christ Jesus our Lord.


We met Galen and Marilyn when we moved into our new home next door to them 2 1/2 years ago. Even in that short time, it was very obvious that Galen was a man of God, a great husband, a loving father and an even more loving grandfather. Even when he was tired, he would still smile and that is what we will remember. What a wonderful day it will be when we see him again in our Father's house. We are truly blessed and honored to have known Galen and our love and prayers are with Marilyn and all the kids and grandkids.

Galen was part of the family!   My daughter married Galen and Marilyn’s son Dale.  I was amazed at how close he was to his dad.  I remember one time when Galen was sitting on the couch and Dale ran over to sit on Galen’s lap.  He didn’t budge and loved his moment with his grown up son.  I saw such a sweet love between the two of them.   What a great example of a father he was!  He will be so missed!

The night before Dale’s graduation from TCU, we all went to a comedy club. Galen was chosen for a skit. He was such a great sport as the comedians had fun with him. The next day as we were leaving the graduation someone yelled, “Hey, there’s Galen the master plumber!”  We all laughed. We should all have our 15 minutes of fame causing others to laugh. Thanks Galen for always making me smile. 

To Galen's family, I doubt any of you know me; however, Galen was my excellent plumber for about 15 years at my home 5547 Stonewall Place, Boulder. I just thought the world of him and was so sad when he went to work for another company and then when he moved away. I was shocked to read his obituary in the Daily  Camera. He was so young. As I read the obituary, I said - This is a perfect description of Galen! He was always so polite, professional, helpful, etc. My husband, Myrl Miller, died from cancer three years ago and I know what a painful  journey it is for everyone. While Galen lived he blessed this world with kindness - the greatest gift ever.  Sally Schneider

I first met Galen in 7th grade.  He was almost as quiet and shy as me and very easy to like.  His smile was very welcoming.  I've always admired Galen and the quiet, friendly and yet spiritual way he lived and lead others.  Galen kind of set the example for the rest of us.  He was the first I knew to get married.  The first to have kids.  Now, first of our friends to move on from this life in the journey to be with God the Father.
May God bless Marilyn and the rest of the family as they must move forward from this loss of such a great man.

I have many fond memories of our encounters with Galen and smile when I remember that without fail I would see his truck at McDonalds and then within days having a plumbing failure that required him to come “bail” us out of the problem.

I am so sorry and so sad to read about Galen's passing.  He was a bright light in my life at all the times when something broke (like a water heater or a sump pump) and I worried about what to do next.  All I had to do for years and years was call Galen and he'd take care of it with that sweet smile and quiet voice.  I missed him when he moved to Texas the first time and then again when he left for good.

I will always remember him fondly.

It was with great sadness that we read of Galen's passing.
He was not only our consummate plumber, but one of the nicest men one could ever know.
I think we were one of the people that called him out on Thanksgiving many years ago sorry.
He always wanted to know about our family and shared how proud he was of all of you.

I first met Galen in 7th grade; he was an outstanding hurdler. Galen had such a gentle, self effacing personality. We played softball together and worked construction together on the CU Recreation Center project. I remember he was an emergency response volunteer at the Burger King parking lot bombing and was deeply affected by that tragedy. We also were very good friends when we were both members at First Pres.

We cherish the long-standing friendship we have had with Galen & Marilyn & their children. Their strong faith was always an encouragement to us .  Galen was our “go to” plumber who came at a moment’s notice & always had the needed item on the truck. We valued his advice about our plumbing needs. We were glad he worked with our sons when they were in the youth program at 1st Pres. It is a big disappointment that the pandemic prevents our giving them a hug at this challenging time. May our Lord give you all the peace only He can provide.
