Doug spent his first 10 years growing up in Arkansas City, Kansas. He later moved to Derby, Colorado. Doug was active in Boy Scouts eventually working his way up to Eagle Scout. He was always interested in electronics and spent his time building radios and electric motors. It was his passion to find out how things worked. He taught himself to play guitar when he was young and played until he couldn’t play anymore. After graduating from high school, he was drafted into the US Army and spent his training at Fort Hood, Texas. Doug spent his military time in Korea and worked the DMZ outside of Seoul, Korea. After being honorably discharged from the Army, he worked for Boeing Aircraft. Doug eventually attended cosmetology school and worked cutting hair in Boulder, Colorado. In 1976, Doug opened up Liberty Legs in Boulder and continued waxing legs until 2014.
Doug suffered through some health issues and was able to overcome a heart attack and a couple of strokes. He ultimately passed away to natural causes.
Doug is survived by his brother, Dale of Brighton.
A private graveside inurnment will take place at Fort Logan National Cemetery.
