Darrin Frank Buck, born in Burlington CO in January of 1965, died at the age of 54, at his home in Longmont Colorado on December 19, 2019. In Frank’s youth he lived in Stratton, CO; Lamar, CO; Morro Bay, CA; Fowler, CO; Ault, CO where he was a 1983 graduate of Highland High School. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts at Western State College in Gunnison Colorado, and received his Master’s in Education in Educational Leadership at the University of Phoenix. He was married to the love of his life, Lulu Buck, on July 29, 2011.
Favorably known as Mr. Buck, he was an educator, coach, and mentor to many for 31 years. He was a teacher and coach at Bennett High School, Calhan High School, Brighton High School and Mountain View High School. He was the Athletic Director for Longmont High School, Mead High School, and an administrator at Coal Ridge Middle School.
Frank had a passion for life. He loved being in our Colorado mountains fishing, chopping wood for stories around the fire, and enjoying time with loved ones. He valued every person he came in contact with and cherished relationships. Frank was generous and selfless, never hesitating to help anyone in need. Memories of his sense of humor, his contagious laugh, and his mischievous spirit will be with us forever.
He will always be remembered by the loving community of St. Vrain Valley School District educators, administrators, and students. His legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of everyone he interacted with.
Frank is survived by his wife, Lulu, and their three children; Kaycee, Brayden, and Copper. Frank is also survived by his loving parents, Richard and Beverly Buck, his older brother Richard, his wife Amy, and their 4 children; Bryan, Morgan, Nick, and Jessica. Frank is also survived by his younger brother, Blaine, his wife Lori, and their 2 children; Ryanne and Jillian. Frank is survived by his in-laws Salvador & Rose Cruz, his older sister Georgina Owen, her husband Keith, and their 4 children; Tristan, Gaheris, Tanner and Bryce. Frank is also survived by his brother Arturo Cruz, and his children Reese and Morgan. Survived by his sister Laura, and her husband, Daniel; their four children; Gavin, Landin, Austin and Colten. Frank is also survived by friends that became family: Karla & Bradly, Sue & Jerry, Olga & Vic, Jim, Phil and Jory.
Celebration of Life will occur at 10:00 am on January 2nd at Lifebridge Christian Church, 10345 Ute Highway, Longmont, CO 80504. There will be a reception to follow at the same location.
In honor of educators and education, Frank requested to attendees to wear their school colors where you and he met. If you are proud of a degree, wear those colors. Thank you.
