Betty was a graduate of Brighton High School. At age 50, Betty went on to attend a vocational school and went to work at the University of Colorado as a manager in the LEEDS business department. She took her job very seriously and was loved by her co-workers.
Betty married Donald Schaefer on August 29, 1954. The moved to Broomfield in 1976. Betty enjoyed her family and never missed a birthday party, graduation or holiday party. Her food brought a lot of joy as well as her famous “Betty Bags”, if you know, you know. Betty’s family was her greatest joy and she considered raising her children as her favorite part of life.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Schaefer; sons, Jacob Jay Schaefer, David Randall Schaefer, Russel Ray Schaefer; daughter, Delma Marie Muhle; and parents, Hank Aschenbrenner and Delma (Deines) Aschenbrenner.
Surviving Betty is her grandson, Matthew John Muhle; brother, Duke Aschenbrenner (Joanne Aschenbrenner); sisters, Bonnie Kay Kanouse and Nancy Lynn Larson; as well as numerous much loved nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
A celebration of life for Betty will be held Friday, April 7, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Howe Mortuary, 439 Coffman Street, Longmont, Colorado 80501. Following the celebration of life will be a reception at 12:00 PM at Las Palmeras Mexican Restaurant, 199 S. Main Street, Longmont, Colorado 80501.
