Linda Rae Klein, 78, of Hemet, CA died Wednesday, June 22, 2022. Linda was born in Worthington, Minnesota and lived her early years there. She moved to Nebraska at age 11 with her parents Lyle and Aletha Christensen Steinbach (Enninga) where she graduated from high school and attended the University of Nebraska taking business classes.
As a young woman, Linda moved to Southern California and worked at Hunt-Wesson Foods with a friend from Nebraska. Later she enjoyed working with Norton Simon at his art museum and became the registrar for his extensive collection. Her lifes work was in serving many non-profit organizations in fund-raising executive positions at the Newport Harbor Art Museum, Mardan Center for learning disabled children, St. Bernardine Medical Center Foundation, Mountains Community Hospital Foundation and Mt. San Jacinto Community Foundation.
Linda was adventurous and enjoyed travel in the United States, Canada, and Europe. She was a previous member of the Red Hat Society and had fun at their national conventions. She enjoyed nature, hiking in the mountains, gardening, reading, riding her scooter and camping in her RV. She especially enjoyed her volunteer work with the Assistance League of Hemacinto Thrift Shop in Hemet. She enjoyed serving and having fun alongside her fellow volunteers as she served in the boutique section of the shop and in Operation School Bell. She was recently awarded her 20-year service pin as a committed volunteer.
Linda (Chris) will be remembered for her kindness, gentle spirit and being a loyal and supportive friend. She remained in regular contact with longtime girlfriends from Nebraska and special friends in Indio, Hemet and Orange County. Chris enjoyed walking in the morning and giving her furry friends special treats. She was a practitioner for the Center for Spiritual Living in Hemet where she regularly served her church community. In her own words as she became a practitioner, “she believed in meditation, spiritual nourishment and knowing it is all God”.
Linda is survived by loving family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents. A private committal service at sea will be performed.
