Peacefully at Parkwood Hospital on Tuesday, October 22, 2013, Albert G. (Bert) James of London ON in his 95th year. Beloved husband of the late Betty (Smyth) James (1999), loved son of the late Arthur and Mabel James. Dear father of Marilyn and her late husband Rev. Timothy Hill (2011) of Forest ON, and the late Janice (1996) and her husband James Ryckman of Chatham ON. Loving Grandpa of Peter (Erin), Erin (Al), Meredith, and Laura, and great-grandson Holden. Loving brother of the late Alfred (Alf) James (late Hilda) of London and the late Flying Officer John William (Jack) James (late Isabel), Killed in Action June 12, 1943. Loved uncle of Jackie (Geoff), Lynn (Geremy), Judy (Rick), and their families. Dear friend of the Kalus and Dykstra families. Bert was an employee of D.H. Howden & Co. for 43 years. Overseas service, 1941-1945, with Royal Air Force Bomber Command. An original member of Forest City Toastmasters (1959-1962). Bert was a member of All Saints’ Anglican Church (1933-2013) and was the author of “The First One Hundred Years: A History of All Saints’ (1887-1987)”.
Friends will be received at Needham Funeral Service, 520 Dundas Street, London ON, on Friday, October 25, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral service at All Saints’ Anglican Church, 249 Hamilton Road (at Inkerman Street), London ON, on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at 11 AM with Archdeacon James Broadfoot officiating.
Private interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to All Saints’ Memorial Fund or the charity of your choice.
