Mike was born in Canby, Minnesota to Richard and Evelyn (nee Engel) Husby on April 30, 1954. He graduated from Canby High School in 1972. He attended U of M Morris for 2 years before moving to New Ulm, MN. In 1974 he got a job at the New Ulm Country Club as bartender (eventually becoming manager), and met Barbara “Barb” Doletzky who was waitressing. They married on July 30, 1977 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Westland, Michigan.
Mike and Barb were blessed with two sons, Ben and Tom, born while living in New Ulm. After moving to Michigan in 1980, they welcomed two more sons, Jeremy and Nicklaus.
Mike was an avid golfer, was honored to golf “the Old Course” at St. Andrews, volunteer at the US Open in Erin Hills, WI, and enjoyed playing with his sons whenever he could.
His servant heart also brought him to be very involved in service to His Lord at his church and his son’s schools by serving on boards at St. John’s Lutheran Church and School, Peace Lutheran Church and School, Huron Valley Lutheran High School, Palabra de Vida Lutheran Church, and Glen Eden Lutheran Memorial Park. He also used his accounting skills to serve his clients, including many called workers, and his family.
Papa Mike was always happy to see his grandchildren playing together, enjoyed watching baseball with his sons, and had fond memories of his travels with Barb.
Mike is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Barb. Dear father of Benjamin J (Leigh), Thomas Michael, Jeremy Jon (Courtney), and Nicklaus William (Theresa); Papa Mike to Jordann, Avie, Juleigh, Laila, Cecelia J, Camron, Nathan, James and Joanna; loving brother of Christopher (Lori); brother-in-law of Dave (Diane) Doletzky, Gwynn (Dale) Manzel and brother-in-law Mike (Sandee) Andree. Dear friends of Gary and Ellen Schroeder. Leaves behind his Uncle Bruce (Sandee) Husby, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Mike is preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law James and Nalda (nee Dumke) Doletzky, his cherished sister Valorie, and two daughters-in-law, Jamie and Cassie.
