Michael Frank Hooton

Mike was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend. He is survived by his father, Robert Hooton; his siblings, Robert Hooton, Laurie (Tim) McDonnell, and James Hooton; and his cherished nieces and nephews, Sara and Tyler Hooton. Mike also leaves behind his second family, the Borton's, who were like family to him. This includes Louis and Dorothy Borton, who were like parents, and Jeffrey (Cindy) Borton, Linda (Brian) Sorensen, David, and Daniel Borton, who saw Mike as their brother. Along with Jamie, Christopher, Shannon and Shaun who viewed him as an uncle.

He was preceded in death by his dear mother, Geraldine Hooton. Mike's life was enriched by his work at Presbyterian Villages of Michigan, where he took pride in maintaining the facility of Our Savior's Manor. His passion for antiquing, cheering on Michigan sports teams, and his love for the USA were well-known. Mike was famous for his guy weekend trips and his unexpectedly impressive dance moves, which always added joy to any gathering.

Mike’s love for Corvettes and his historical Christmas Village display, which even made it into the Redford Observer, were a testament to his vibrant personality. His beloved dog Brownie was a source of comfort to him, and he missed Buddy, who preceded him in death.

Despite his battle with cancer, Mike remained a fighter and faced his challenges with remarkable strength and grace. His heart was as big as his spirit, and he will be profoundly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Harry J. Will Funeral Home. The funeral service will be on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at 11:00 AM, followed by a processional to Glen Eden Cemetery in Livonia where Mike will be laid to rest. Mike will also have a ceremonial drive-by past his beloved home in Redford at 10:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Mike's memory to the Colorectal Cancer Alliance.

Mike’s friends and family remember him with deep affection and will cherish his memory always. His spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
