Beloved husband of Ruth Farabaugh for over 54 wonderful years, Michael was a devoted and loving father to Jeffrey (Rebekah) Farabaugh, Andrew Farabaugh, and Daniel (Viktoriya) Farabaugh. He was a proud and affectionate grandfather to Sophia Farabaugh, Karina Dovhan, and Broc (Tess Hart) Crook, each of whom brought immense joy to his life. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Modestus and Hilda Farabaugh, and his siblings: Thomas Farabaugh, Katherine Ann Cross, Earl Farabaugh, Jeanne Comins, Patricia Farabaugh, and Richard Farabaugh. Their memories remained close to his heart throughout his life.
A proud Army veteran, Michael held a deep sense of duty throughout his years. He lived a life rich in curiosity, creativity, and appreciation for the simple joys of the world around him. After an honorable discharge from the Army, he enrolled in an apprenticeship for heating, cooling, and refrigeration. He was a proud journeyman in that trade until he retired in 2003.
Michael had an adventurous spirit and loved to participate in road rallies, where the thrill of a well-planned course brought him great satisfaction. He loved fishing—whether standing at the water’s edge or out on a boat. His love of photography went hand-in-hand with his appreciation for beauty, and he took great care in capturing landscapes, family milestones, and the small, fleeting details that others might miss.
He also had a passion for antiquing, always on the lookout for unique finds that carried a sense of history and character. He enjoyed spending time traveling—whether close to home or farther afield—with Ruth, making memories together and finding joy in new places and experiences. Michael was naturally curious and enjoyed learning about the world, often diving into history or reading about the places he hoped to visit. His hobbies reflected his warm and thoughtful nature, his appreciation for craftsmanship, and his deep love for family and tradition.
Michael was also a dedicated member of Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church, where his faith anchored his life and his fellowship with others brought him great comfort and connection.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Harry J. Will Funeral Home, 37000 W. Six Mile Road, Livonia, Michigan. Michael will lie in state on Thursday, April 17, 2025, from 10:00 AM until the time of his funeral service at 11:00 AM at Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church, 14175 Farmington Road, Livonia, Michigan.
