Meridel Sue Mack (Nee Wonders), age 83, of Livonia, Michigan passed away on Friday, July 19, 2019. Beloved mother of Laura (Kevin) Zajac and Kristen (David) Lewey. Proud grandmother of Hannah, Olivia and Alexandra. Dearest sister of Sherry (Ray) Serpa. Cherished aunt and godmother of Michael (Evonne) Serpa and Andrew (Cindy) Serpa.
Sue was born in Detroit, the eldest of two daughters to Ralph and Bernice Wonders. She was raised in Dearborn, graduated from Fordson High School in 1954 and Michigan State University in 1958 with an Elementary Education Certification. Early in her career, she taught elementary school in both Dearborn and Birmingham. She left the teaching profession to raise her family and later, used her keen sense of art and design in her second career as an interior designer and commercial furniture representative. Compassionate and empathetic, she was a great friend to many, all throughout the various stages of her life. She loved her children and grandchildren fiercely and was very proud of all their accomplishments. While her passing leaves a tremendous void, her family is grateful that she is at peace with her heavenly family.
A visitation will take place at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Livonia at 10:00am until the time of service at 11:00 on Saturday, July 27, 2019. A luncheon will be provided in the church fellowship hall after the service. A private burial at Glen Eden Memorial Park will occur at a later date.
The family welcomes that memories and expressions of sympathy be shared in the online guestbook. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made either to the Holy Trinity Music fund, through Holy Trinity Lutheran Church @ www.holytrinitylivonia.org or the Smile Train organization. Sue was a huge advocate of Smile Train. It is an international children’s charity that supports 100% free cleft repair surgery and comprehensive cleft care for children globally.
