M. Jean Garvey

M. Jean Garvey, age 90 of Hartland, Michigan, passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2024. Jean was born January 3, 1934, in East Liverpool, Ohio to the late William and Mary (nee Sanford) Curry. Loving mother of Howard (Diana) Garvey and Timothy (Kerri Gibson) Garvey. Beloved grandmother of April Hall, Robert Hall, Melissa Delonge, and Ryan Garvey. Proud great-grandmother of Taylor Haas and Kayleigh Hall. Sister of Jack Curry and Bruce Curry.

Jean was preceded in passing by dear husband Phillip Garvey, cherished daughter Debbie Monahan, and sister Joanne Terbeck.

Jean started her career at General Motors as a secretary in the legal department. She became a stay-at-home mom to raise her three children and was very active in school and sporting events. She returned to work at the City of Livonia as an administrative assistant in the Planning Department where she eventually retired.

Jean and Phillip enjoyed traveling and spending summers at the family cabin in Canada. She especially enjoyed joint trips with the family to Florida and the Bahamas. Jean will be remembered as a wonderful Grandma to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Jean was an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers, with her favorite player being Al Kaline.

A visitation will be held Monday, December 16, from 3:00-8:00pm at Harry J Will Funeral Home, 37000 Six Mile Rd, Livonia, MI 48152. She will be laid to rest at Glen Eden Memorial Park. Contributions in her memory are appreciated to the Alzheimer’s Association.
