The man, the myth, the legend, Lucian Domin burst into this world on September 7th, 1946. He was the first child of Lucian and Josephine Domin (both deceased) and oldest brother to Mary and Gary (deceased). He grew up playing baseball on the bad streets of Hamtramck while perfecting his pool hustling skills. He drove a motorcycle, was an excellent dancer, wore leather, and was very cool. He left that life behind after meeting the love of his life, Sandra. After 8 short months of courtship they got married. Lucian and Sandra spent the next 49 years happily married, and had two children, Amanda (married to Nathan) Vander Kley & Steven (married to Aleona) Domin.
Lucian received a Masters in social work, at Western Michigan University. This was also the time at which he received his alias “Dobie,” which stuck with him for the remainder of his life. He was drafted in the military and promoted to the rank of Sergeant (Tank Commander). He went on to work with children for the next 34+ years enriching numerous lives on a daily basis. There was not a child who met him who didn’t immediately adore him. In retirement, he delighted in telling everyone about his children and grandchildren (Davis, Logan, & Aleksandra). Dobie fiercely loved Michigan professional sports, especially the Detroit Tigers & Michigan State Spartans. He was a passionate reader, loved science fiction, Star Wars, and going to the movies. He talked to anyone & everyone, and made friends with whomever was lucky enough to cross his path. If you were fortunate enough to be called his friend, you couldn’t have found a better one. He couldn’t help but make the people around him smile, by his sense of humor & larger then life personality. We will carry a piece of him in our hearts & continue to share the memories of him. He will be forever remembered & endlessly missed.
A memorial gathering will be held at Harry J. Will Funeral Home in Livonia on Sunday March 3rd, 2019 from 12-2pm.
