Louis William Maludy, age 98 of Northville, Michigan, passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2024. Louis was born July 29, 1926, in Detroit, Michigan to William and Bessie (nee Georgopulos) Maludy. Loving father of Patricia Kuneman and Michael (Mary) Maludy. Beloved grandfather of Angelique Dosh, Gordon (Lisa) McNett, Gerry (Sandra) McNett, Michael McNett, Brett Kuneman, and Stephen Maludy. Proud great-grandfather of Dominic McNett, Daniel Dosh, Nicholas Dosh, Sabastian McNett, and Dante McNett.
Louis was preceded in passing by his wife of 64 years, Ethel, as well as his daughter Connie McNett.
Louis enlisted in the US Navy at age 17 during WWII and proudly served on the USS LST 944. He participated in the Pacific Invasion during the battles of Iwo Jima and Okinawa. Upon his return home, Louis finished high school and later went on to graduate from the University of Detroit. In 1948 he met his true love, Ethel; they married in Detroit on March 6, 1949. One of his first jobs was at Detroit Arsenal as a tank test driver, before spending the majority of his career at Ford Motor Company as an engineer.
Louis had many passions that he enjoyed. He was extremely proud of his Greek heritage. He loved restoring antique cars and drag racing. He was a member of the Cadillac and LaSalle Car Club for many years. Some of his favorite car shows to participate in included the Woodward Dream Cruise, the Motor Muster at Greenfield Village, and the Greek Independence Day Parade. He also volunteered his time to the Redford Police Department as a Reserve Officer and also acted as a Firearms Instructor.
Louis was a lifetime member of SS Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church. A visitation will be held Monday, November 11, from 3:00-8:00pm at the church, 36375 Joy Rd, Westland, MI 48185, with a Trisagion service at 6:30pm. An in state will be held the following day, Tuesday, November 12, from 9:30am until the funeral service beginning at 10:30am. He will be laid to rest at Parkview Memorial Cemetery.
