A proud graduate of Chadsey High School in Detroit, Class of 1958, John maintained close ties with his classmates throughout his life. After high school, he married the love of his life, Gloria Mosed, on September 19, 1964, and together they shared 60 beautiful years of marriage.
John served his country honorably as a member of the United States Marine Corps. After his service, he worked as a drafting engineer.
John’s zest for life was evident in all he did. He was an avid golfer, an enthusiastic card player with friends and neighbors, and an adventurous traveler, exploring Europe with Gloria by his side. Most of all, he was a devoted and proud grandfather, rarely missing an event or milestone in the lives of his six grandchildren. Known as the local handyman, John was always ready to lend a helping hand to family, friends, and neighbors.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Gloria; three children, John (Nancy) Kaminski, Judy (Dan) Rathwell, and Linda (Vern) Bremmer; and six cherished grandchildren: Jacob, Mark, Samantha, Jessica, Taylor, and Jack. He is also survived by his four sisters, Christine Kozup, Pat (Dave) Sajewski, Marie Goff, and Bernice Tierney.
John is reunited in eternal rest with his parents, John and Bernice, and his brothers-in-law, Jack Kozup and John Tierney.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
John’s legacy of love, service, and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
