Eugene (Gene) Oren Rogers, Jr., beloved son of Eugene Oren Rogers, Sr. and Esther Bashor Rogers, was born in Detroit on November 24, 1934. He passed away peacefully on February 23, 2024, at the age of 89.
Gene was baptized, confirmed, and became a member of the Lutheran Church in 1965. He married Joann Wagner on October 2, 1965, at Covenant Lutheran Church in Detroit. Gene is survived by his wife and two daughters Andrea (John) Snyr and Susan (Arthur) Helbig.
Gene graduated from MacKenzie High School in 1953. He had a long successful career in the grocery business, starting as a stock boy at age 15 and working his way up to store manager. He liked the grocery business so much that after he retired he continued working part-time for a gourmet food business.
Gene enjoyed traveling and sports. He was a very caring and loving husband and father and he’ll be missed very much.
Contributions in his memory may be directed to Christ Our Savior.
A visitation for Gene will be held Saturday, March 2, at 10:00am at Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church, 14175 Farmington Rd., Livonia, MI 48154, followed by a service beginning at 11:00am. He will be laid to rest at Glen Eden Memorial Park.
