Elaine Marie Cook, age 76, passed away unexpectedly on December 5, 2021. She was born on November 5, 1945, to the late James and Claire Halvangis, and she graduated from Rosary High School in 1963. Elaine was the beloved wife of Charles Cook for 53 wonderful years and loving mother to daughters Mary Frances (Christopher) Dobbs, Kathryn (David) Kopich, and Angela (Donald) Putkela.
One of the great joys of her life was being the cherished grandmother, or "Yia-Yia," to Kirsten Dobbs, Debbie Kopich, Greg Kopich, Harrison Putkela, Colin Putkela, and Evie Putkela. She was the dear sister to William (Karla) Halvangis and Suzanne (Patrick) Hanley as well as dearest Godmother of Terri Poshadlo (son Jeff) and Aunt to numerous nieces and nephews.
Elaine was an amazing Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and friend to all. Elaine & Chuck married in 1968 and started their life together in the Air Force in New Mexico. After two years they moved back to Detroit to be close to family and later settled in Novi. Their marriage was a beautiful testament to love, laughter, and family.
She loved to talk and is remembered for always making time for those around her. She was admired by many for being warm, caring and thoughtful. Elaine cherished the time with her grandchildren, who were the great joy of her later years. Elaine always made those around her feel like the center of the world. She enjoyed spending time with many lifelong friends and neighbors, especially those from her pinochle card club group who were almost like family to her and Chuck.
Elaine loved to read, talk on the phone, and believed that food is love. She was a woman of faith and a parishioner of Holy Family for decades. She saw God all around her in her daily life and she often expressed how much God had blessed her life. She was the voice you wanted to hear when you needed a shoulder to cry on and will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
