Effie Carlson

Effie Carlson, 97, died July 31, 2013, at the Livonia Woods Nursing Home. She was born January 28, 1916 in Tracy, Iowa, daughter of the late John And Anna Bos. She was united in marriage to Fred Zentner on October 17, 1940, in Rice Lake, Wisconsin. They owned and operated a tourist and trailer court for many years. He preceded her in death in 1966. From her marriage to Fred Zentner, she is survived by one stepdaughter (Elaine Merz) and many step grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a stepdaughter (Marian Elseth) and a stepson (Norman Zentner), also a step daughter- in- law (Singrid Zentner) and two step sons -in -law (Vern Elseth and Clarence Merz).

Effie married Elmer Carlson on May 7, 1973 in Dearborn, Michigan. He preceded her in death in 1980. She is survived by one stepson (Denton Carlson), and two step daughters -in- law (Marilyn Carlson and Judy Carlson). She is also survived by many step grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a stepdaughter (Delores Justus) and a stepson (Duane Carlson).

She was also preceded in death by a sister (Dena Anderson) and two brothers (Hank Bos and Tony Bos). She is survived by a sister -in- law (Bertha Bos), and many nieces and nephews as well as step nieces and nephews.

She accepted the gospel of Christ at a young age and remained faithful all her life. She enjoyed many activities, including gardening, traveling, visiting, crocheting baby blankets, writing letters and baking.

Visitation Friday 4-7 pm at Harry J. Will Funeral Home 37000 Six Mile Rd. in Livonia. Funeral service will be at 7:30 pm at the funeral home.
