David Alexander Wheat, age 31, of Novi, Michigan, and recently Ferndale, Michigan passed away on Wednesday, November 13, 2024. Loving son of Michael and Anita (nee Brown) Wheat. Beloved brother of Michael (Scarlett) Wheat, Meaghan (Clay) Wheat, and Lauren Wheat. He will also be deeply missed by his faithful companion, his yellow lab Charlotte.
David was preceded in passing by his grandparents, James and Mabel Joyce Wheat, and Catherine and Vincent Brown.
David proudly attended Village Oaks schools ahead of attending Novi High School, class of 2010. After graduation, he went on to the University of Michigan- Dearborn where he was awarded a Bachelor's of Business Administration. He later completed his certification to become a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Certified Financial Analyst (CFA). He spent his career at various public accounting firms.
David loved spending time outdoors, camping, and hiking with his friends. One of his favorite spots was Sunset Point on Belle Isle. He also loved swimming, biking, and boating Up North at his home in Sugar Springs.
Some pastimes he participated in included playing Pokemon Go with his family and watching sports, such as Detroit Lions football, basketball, and hockey, and listening to music. A voracious reader, he enjoyed reading many books, one of his favorites being "The Warmth of Other Suns" by Isabel Wilkerson.
He had a passion for running and completed the Detroit Free Press International Half Marathon. This past summer he also took a trip with his parents to New York where one of his favorite activities was hiking the Brooklyn Bridge.
Most importantly, David was blessed with a supportive family. He was immensely proud of all of his siblings as well as his parents. The second-born son, he loved being a big brother to his younger sisters. He recently became a homeowner. He enjoyed the independence this afforded him but knew his family was always by his side. David was known for his quick wit and clever personality. He will be deeply missed, especially his hugs.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, November 19, from 4:00-8:00pm at Harry J Will Funeral Home, 37000 Six Mile Rd, Livonia, MI 48152. An in state will be held Wednesday, November 20, at St James Catholic Church, 46325 W 10 Mile Rd, Novi, MI 48374, at 10:30am, followed by a funeral mass beginning at 11:00am. He will be laid to rest at Glen Eden Memorial Park.
