Cynthia Gutowski

Cynthia Gutowski of Livonia, passed away Monday – April 20, 2020. Cynthia was born in Detroit to Samuel & Helen (Francis) Hassen, the 5th of their six children. She graduated in 1967 from Lowrey High School in Dearborn. She met her husband Edward H. Gutowski when they both were in the wedding party for mutual friends. They married on October 12, 1973 and last fall celebrated 46 years together.

Cynthia was a para-professional for the Livonia Public Schools. In 2005, Cynthia was awarded the “Golden Apple Award” from the Livonia Public School District. She liked walking, quilting, baking, entertaining, taking boat rides up north; and, was a member of "F.S.S.S.S. Craft Club" as well as a volunteer group at Angela Hospice. She also loved traveling, and visited all 50 states.

Cynthia is survived by her husband, Ed; son, Adam; daughter, Sara (Kurtis) Peters; brothers, Samuel Hassen, Jr., David (Gay) Hassen, and Lawrence Hassen; sister, Sylvia Corman; brothers-in-law, Richard (Sharon) Gutowski, Ronald (Connie) Gutowski, Daniel (Laurie) Gutowski; sister-in-law, Carol (Dennis) Gilbert; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Cynthia was pre-deceased by a sister, Priscilla Burnison.

A private visitation will be held on Sunday, April 26, 2020 followed by a private burial on Monday at Glen Eden Cemetery, Livonia, Michigan.
