William F. Savage, Jr., 81, passed away peacefully, on Sunday, March 3, 2024, with his loving family by his side, in West Orange, NJ. Born in Orange, NJ, William was a life-long resident of West Orange. William was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army. He worked for many years for the Essex County Department of Corrections, as a Corrections Officer, for 27 years, before his retirement as a Lieutenant. He also worked for Kevah Konner, where he drove a school bus for many years. William enjoyed attending the casino and horse track in his spare time. He was also an avid football fan, but his favorite thing to do was to spend time with his dear family, especially his grandchildren.
William was predeceased by his parents, William and Anna Savage, as well as his brother, John. He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Mary; his children and their spouses, Maryann Ripa (Nick), Deborah Vaccaro (Paul), and Christine Savage (Barry O’Dell); his cherished grandchildren, Kimberly, Louis, and Vincent; his siblings Michael Savage and Ann Sheridan; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members and friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 from 4-8 PM at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, Livingston. Funeral service will be held at Ss Nicholas, Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 80 Laurel Avenue, Roseland, NJ on Thursday, March 7 at 10:30AM. Entombment will follow at Restland Memorial Park, East Hanover.
In lieu of flowers, donations in William’s name may be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, or to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. (See Links below)
