It is with much love and sadness that the family of Robert Vincent Harris announces his passing. He was a loving father and grandfather to four children and eight grandchildren. Robert (Bob) was born on October 12th, 1946 in Paterson, NJ to William and Concetta (D’Argenzio) Hawryszczuk. He grew up as a child actor having performed in both on and off-Broadway musicals. Bob was a singer, dancer and accomplished pianist and attended the Julliard School of Music from 1962 – 1963.
At the age of 18, Bob enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country proudly in the Vietnam War. Following active duty, he served in the Naval Reserves being honorably discharged in 1971. After his service, he married and moved to Livingston where he raised four children. Bob was a self-employed businessman working in the food service industry until his disabilities onset at an early age. For several years, Bob was also an active member in his church’s support outreach programs and donated his time to helping others with disabilities. In his later years, he was a school crossing guard for the Township of Livingston. Throughout his life Bob most enjoyed playing the piano, a talent that he passed down to his sons and grandchildren. He was also a very talented chef with a special love for lobster and Barry Manilow.
Loving father of Robert Harris, Kristin Graziano (Thomas), Stacey Polito (Rick), and Michael Harris (Kellie); cherished grandfather of Nicholas, Megan, Sarah, Emma, Gavin, Ella, Matthew, and Annabelle; and dear brother of William Harris (Ina).
A visitation will be held on Monday, December 10, 3:00 - 6:00 PM at Quinn Hopping Funeral Home, 145 East Mount Pleasant Ave., Livingston, NJ, followed by a funeral service at the at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers donations in Robert’s name to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital www.stjude.org would be greatly appreciated.
