Raymond was born and raised in Newark, New Jersey to Sfida and Maria D’Uva. He earned his law degree in 1976 from Seton Hall Law School went to practice law for over 30 years in his hometown Newark. He married Virginia (Vicky) Lopez D’Uva on April 5, 1986.
Raymond was known by all who were lucky enough to meet him as a gentle, kind, sweet, honest, and deeply intelligent man. For over 30 years, he worked as an immigration attorney, helping thousands of clients establish lives and contribute to their communities in the US. He cared very much for his clients; he felt a deep responsibility for their livelihoods. He spoke five languages. He was a member of West Essex UNICO and Societa Oriundi Castellani for many years, giving back to his community and filling in as Santa every Christmas at the UNICO Holiday party for the disabled. Ray was as silly as he was smart and was never too shy to make the room laugh with a joke, a dance, a song, or all three. Ray was a devoted family man and would make a yearly pilgrimage to family in Georgia by car, and would visit extended family in Castelpetroso, Italy as often as he could. He loved a glass of red wine, fine cheese, fishing trips, and all things Italian. Mostly, he loved being together with his family. He was just the best human anybody could know. His smile would make your heart melt when he walked into a room. Family time will never be the same. We will miss him terribly.
Ray was predeceased by his parents, Sfida and Maria. He is survived by his wife Vicky, sister Antoinette (Frank), children Francesca, Patrizio, and Giovanna, nephews and niece, and many other close family members.
