Phoebe Tenzer Corwin, Ph.D., age 91, died June 27, 2022, at the Center for Hope in Scotch Plains, NJ. She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Leonard J. Corwin, M.D., and brother, Irwin Tenzer. She is survived by her sons, Dr. Andrew Corwin (Dr. Mary-Joan) and Scott Corwin (Margaret), and grandchildren Matthew, George, Augustus, Timothy, and Katherine. Her extended family added much joy to her life.
Having graduated from Midwood High School, Brooklyn, earning a BA degree at Hofstra University, continuing in graduate work at Columbia University, receiving an Ed.S. degree from Rutgers University, Phoebe later completed a Ph.D. in clinical and school psychology at Hofstra. She and Leonard married in 1955, and they raised their children in Short Hills. Phoebe retired from her position as as a school psychologist in the East Orange Board of Eduation having previously worked for the school systems of Clinton, South River, and Livingston.
An avid duplicate bridge player having earned a Ruby Life Master rank in the ACBL, Phoebe greatly appreciated her cohort of bridge partners. A lifelong avid reader, she also enjoyed needlepoint and knitting.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, July 1st, at Congregation B’nai Jeshurun, 1025 South Orange Ave., Short Hills, NJ 07079.
