Mary Rose Wells (nee Kafaf), 92, passed away on Friday, May 26, 2017 in Livingston, NJ. Born in Newark, and a graduate of West Side High School, Mary resided in Livingston for 56 years. She was an active member of St. Philomena’s Church in Livingston, where she was part of the Altar Rosary Society and the church choir. She travelled to many countries with the choir, including Ireland, Austria, and Italy, where she met the Pope. Mary worked as a Case File Worker for the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service for 52 years, before her retirement in 1997.
Mary was predeceased by her beloved husband, Keathon “David” Wells, as well as her daughter-in-law Christine Mount-Wells. She is survived by her loving sons Peter (Annette), Paul (Cindy), Patrick (Ginger), and Phillip. She is also survived by her grandchildren Matthew (Layne), Christopher, Lea, Peter (Jillian), Sean, Jake, and Samantha; her great-grandchildren Lucy and Theodore, as well as her siblings Peter, Florence, Dorothy, and Richard.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 30 from 4-8 PM at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 145 E. Mt. Pleasant Avenue, Livingston. Funeral Mass will be offered on Wednesday, May 31, at 10AM at St. Philomena’s Church, Livingston. Cremation will be private.
