Mary was born on January 8, 1933 in Newark, NJ, to parents, Frank C. and Jennie R. (Sesso) Cottone. She graduated from Girl’s Vocational High School in 1951.
Mary loved to read and would write a book report for each book she read. She has many spiral notebooks of these reports. She loved to sew and would make her children’s clothes, she made all the slip covers for her furniture and the draperies in her home in Bloomfield, New Jersey. Mary loved to cook; her ravioli’s were delicious and she was known for her cream puffs, Russian rock cookies & cannoli’s to her family. Mary and her husband Umberto had the largest garden when she lived in Bloomfield. They planted at least 144 tomato plants along with lettuce, peppers, eggplant, string beans, and the list went on. They would jar the tomatoes and had cases of them for the year when she made gravy for her family. She loved to crochet and teach her daughters to sew and do embroidery. Since moving to Sebastian, Florida in 2020, Mary loved to go see plays, was in a book club, loved listening to her music in her bedroom and going out to dinner. Walking around the pool and sitting in the sun reading her book is where you would find Mary. She loved being around younger people and said that they kept her feeling young.
Mary was loved by everyone who met her and was a compassionate and kind person. She was always thinking of everyone else before herself.
