Lazar “Larry” Blumenfeld, age 81, passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2022. Lazar was born July 25, 1940 in Newark, NJ to Alex and Sally Blumenfeld of Maplewood, NJ. Larry was a veteran of the US Air Force Reserve. He received his Bachelor of Arts from Temple University In Philadelphia, PA where he was the treasurer for his fraternity.
He started his career in real estate development in New York City with projects that included the Avon Building in Manhattan, Churchill Hotel in London and the InterContinental in Rome. He went on to take over his father’s workwear business, AAA Uniforms, in Jersey City. Larry evolved the business into Intapol Industries which became a national uniform and equipment supplier to security firms, police departments, motorcycle units and bus companies. His accounts included companies such as Greyhound Lines, Brinks Armored, and Wells Fargo Alarm. Larry also grew the company to have an international presence with accounts in the Netherland Antilles, Suriname, Liberia, and Egypt.
He lived in Livingston for many years before moving to Verona, NJ. He then went on to split his time between New Jersey and Bal Harbor Florida for the past 21 years.
Larry is survived by his wife Carol of 29 years and her son Dominic (Renee) and their children Carmine and Luchia. He is also survived by son Lee Schwartz (Gabrielle) and their children Ryan and Mae, son Brad Blumenfeld (Eva) and their child Lilly, and daughter Stacey Blume Frankel (Justin) and her stepchildren Jackson and Ava, and sisters Roslyn Meadow and Phyllis Hoffman. Larry was predeceased by Carol’s son Americo.
