Born in Newark, NJ to parents Eleanor and Peter Cordasco on November 11, 1940, she resided in Livingston, NJ for the past 58 years. At her core, Jude was a caretaker. She began her career in the Livingston public school system as a teacher. She went on to earn her Master’s degree and worked as a Speech Pathologist, in the Boonton Township public school system.
Jude was strong, loyal, and hilariously funny. She spent her retired life enjoying the company of her family, making them laugh, teaching them invaluable lessons, snuggling with her cats, and of course playing cards and mahjongg with her friends. Sundays were firmly reserved for spending time with her husband, Ronald, who she always described as the love of her life. There was nothing in the world quite like being loved by her. She had the most special way of bringing you into her life, making you a part of her family, and letting you know you were loved. She was warm, spunky, generous, never afraid to speak her mind, and truly one of a kind. Jude built a big, beautiful family that is so grateful for the time we got to spend with her and the unending impact she had on each of our lives.
Jude is survived by her husband, Ronald DeCheser, two children Danielle Genovese and her husband Michael, Christopher Pastena and his wife Donna, two step-children Marlene DeCheser, and Michael DeCheser and his wife Julie. She is also survived by her grandchildren Gabriella and her fiancé Freddy, Anthony and his wife Bethany, Christopher Jr., Austin, Vienna, Steven, Marcus, Oliver, and Dylan.
A service to honor Jude’s life will take place at 11am on Friday, September 27th at St. Raphael’s church 346 E Mt Pleasant Ave, Livingston, NJ 07039. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
