Born on August 11, 1928, in Maplewood, N.J., Florence was the cherished daughter of the late George and Hilda (Zentgraf) Bevensee. She was pre-deceased by her beloved brother, George (Buddy) Bevensee, with whom she shared many happy memories.
Florence worked for the New Jersey Bell Telephone Company in Newark, NJ, beginning in the steno pool and rising to Secretary to the Medical Director. It was a position she thoroughly enjoyed and often spoke about, making many life-long friends and having lots of lunchtime adventures!
In 1946, Florence met the love of her life, Robert (Bucky) Rogers and married in September of 1952. After the birth of their first child, Florence embraced her new role as a devoted mother and homemaker. Her life was marked by an unwavering dedication to her loved ones, and she was always present for her children and grandchildren, offering guidance, support, and unconditional love.
Florence was an active and faithful member of Olivet United Church of Christ and later the Federated Church of Livingston, where she contributed to the life of the congregation with kindness and service. She also took great pride in her role as a long-time member of the V.F.W. Women’s Auxiliary of Livingston, where she served in numerous leadership positions over the years. Along with her husband Bob, she was involved in many activities within the Livingston community.
Florence was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Her warmth and generosity of spirit made her a treasured presence in the lives of everyone who knew her. She had a remarkable ability to offer kind words, a smile, and a helping hand to all who needed it, and her family and friends will forever remember her as a woman who could always be counted on.
Florence was pre-deceased by her loving husband of 64 years, Robert (Bucky) Rogers. She leaves behind her daughters, Jennifer Adkins and Roberta Roselle, their husbands, Gary Adkins and Daniel Roselle, and her adored grandchildren, Jon (and his fiancée, Ashley), Matthew, Danimarie, and Michele. Florence held a special place in her heart for each of them, and the cherished memories of the time spent with her will be forever etched in their hearts.
Visitation will be held at the Quinn Hopping Funeral Home, 145 E. Mt. Pleasant Ave., Livingston, N.J., on Saturday, December 14, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, with a service immediately following. In lieu of flowers, donations in Florence's memory may be made to the Mount Pleasant Animal Shelter.
