Adeline Mae Hoffman, 99 years of age, of West Orange, NJ passed away on Saturday November 11, 2023. A visitation for Adeline will be held Friday, November 17, 2023, from 5pm to 9pm at Quinn Hopping Funeral Home, 145 East Mount Pleasant Ave., Livingston NJ. A funeral service will occur Saturday, November 18, 2023, from 10:00AM to 11:00 AM at St Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 44 Benvenue Avenue, West Orange, NJ, with interment to immediately follow at Restland Memorial Park, East Hanover, NJ.
Adeline was born and raised in Danbury Connecticut. She was married and lived in Jersey City before moving to West Orange New Jersey 50 years ago. Adeline was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She held many positions including, Secretary for the League of Women Voters, Secretary for an insurance company, a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority, an elementary substitute teacher, a high school typing teacher, a docent for the West Orange Historical Society, and a Girl Scout leader. Her interests included, sewing, cooking, travel, was an avid reader, played the piano and enjoyed music and the fine arts. Her greatest love was devoting her life to her husband, children, and grandchildren.
Adeline is survived by her daughter Carol and son-in- law Michael, Donna Jackson and son-in- law Roy, and Janice Hoffman; 10 grandchildren: Jennie Richter, Christine (John) Chartier, Andrea (Aaron) Haynes, Maureen (Joseph) Allen, Caitlyn (David) Barba, Stephen (Theepica) Jackson, Bryan Jackson, Christopher, William, and Brittany Hoffman; 13 great grandchildren: Adeline, Collete, Julianne, Marinette Chartier, Henry Richter, Olivia and Natalie Haynes Brooklyn and Lucas Allen, Blake and Finley Barba, Gavin and Austin Hoffman; Sister, Bette Gurry; many dear family members and friends. Adeline was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joseph A. Hoffman Jr., her son Joseph Hoffman III, her grandsons Joseph Hoffman IV and Timothy Hoffman, sibling William Woodin, sister-in-law Dorothy Woodin, and brother-in-law Louis Gurry.
