on June 18, 2023. Born in Little Rock, Arkansas on February 11, 1932 to Thomas Henry Stuart and Loretta (Earley) Stuart, he was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Rose Marie Luneau Stuart, sisters Patricia Garner, Rosemarie Bartsch, Ann Hooper, Jean Gordon, and Josepha Shannon. He served his country proudly as a Petty Officer Third Class in the United States Navy from September 28, 1953 to September 14, 1955 where he was assigned to the cruiser U.S.S. Roanoke (CL-145), completed two deployments, and earned the National Defense Service Medal. Transitioning back to civilian life, he worked for the Rock Island Railroad. In 1959, he began working for the United States Postal Service and retired in 1999 after 40 years of faithful service. He is survived by his five children, Loretta Stuart Quick, Thomas Stuart, David Stuart (Rhonda), Mary Stuart Lewis (Mark), and Christopher Stuart (Gail Ann), as well as 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was a dedicated member of Christ the King Catholic parish and was deeply passionate about his participation in the Men of Faith ministry and studying scripture. He was also heavily involved in Bible Study Fellowship for many years with his beloved wife, Rose. He additionally served as Eucharistic Minister and as a member of the Altar Society with Christ the King. Blessed with a fine tenor voice, he sang for many years with the choir at St. Andrew’s Cathedral in downtown Little Rock, and passed on his love of music to all of his children.
Visitation is scheduled at 6 pm on Tuesday, June 27th at Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth Funeral Home, 5800 W. 12th Street, Little Rock, with the Holy Rosary recited at 7 pm. Funeral services will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church at 10 am on Wednesday, June 28th. Interment will be at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery at 12 noon on Wednesday, June 28th.
