Samuel Whitlow

Samuel (Sam) Roger Whitlow, born on April 24, 1940 in Arkadelphia, AR passed away on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 in Little Rock. He graduated from Ouachita Baptist College and held music and youth positions in a number of churches in Arkansas: First Baptist, Wynn; First Baptist, Norphlet; Life Line Baptist, Little Rock; West Side Baptist, El Dorado. He was associate pastor of First Baptist, Anna, IL. He pastored Chicot Road Baptist in Mabelvale and retired as pastor of Harmony Baptist in El Dorado. In his retirement years, he served Caledonia Baptist Church in El Dorado.

Sam served his country in the 39th infantry division of the Arkansas National Guard.

Sam is predeceased by his parents, John P. Whitlow and Agnes Griffin Whitlow; his twin brother, James (Jim) Whitlow; and his wife, Maryan Howell Whitlow. He is survived by two sisters, June Whitlow, Birmingham, AL and Nancy Whitlow, Alton, IL. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Milly Whitlow; one nephew, Jeffrey Whitlow and wife, Ashley; and two great nephews, Connor and Noah Whitlow, all of Little Rock.

Funeral services will be held in the chapel of the Griffin Legett Healey & Roth Funeral Home, 5800 W. 12th Street, Little Rock 72204 at 10:00am on Friday July 21, 2023 with visitation one hour before at 9:00am. Burial will follow in Sand Hill Cemetery, Simms, TX. at 3:00pm. Memorials may be made to Caledonia Baptist Church, 2192 Wingfield Lake Rd., El Dorado, AR 71730 or Chicot Road Baptist Church, 13301 Chicot Rd., Mabelvale 72103.
