Maudie Blanche Williams Nelson, 93, Little Rock, AR, has passed away peacefully next to her loving family at her home. She was born April 05, 1930 in North Little Rock, Arkansas to her two loving parents LeRoy Williams and Alena Jackson Williams. She was a loving daughter, wife, dedicated mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, friend and devoted member of her community. She will be deeply missed.
Maudie was a student of J.C. Cook High School, Wrightsville, AR. She was a devout member of the Zion Wheel Missionary Baptist church where she was the President of the Mother board, member of the choir and devoted every Sunday to her Sunday school. In her later years she would then meet her loving husband Sam Nelson, where they would then go on to have eight children together. She was a member of the St. John Baptist Church’s WMU Celestic circle. She was a dedicated President to the East Little Rock Community Center.
Maudie is preceded in death by her mother Alena and father LeRoy Williams, her three sisters Dorothy Adams, Geraldine Williams, Earnestine Stewart, and four brothers Fred Williams, LeRoy Williams Jr., John Williams and Cleveland Williams. Her daughters Linda Nelson Cogshell and Ruth Nelson, and two sons Samuel Nelson and Cleveland Nelson.
Maudie is survived by her daughters Esther (Jimmy) Burton, Robin Nelson, Gail (Denormis) Worsham, son Anthony (Debra) Nelson, her brother Herbert (Lelia) Williams, two sister in laws Lottie Williams and Rosetta Williams, twelve grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends that were all touched by Maudie’s wonderful devotion to her family.
