Mary Preston Haynie

March 2, 1932 - June 9, 2021

Mary Haynie of Little Rock, Arkansas departed this life on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at the age of eighty-nine.

Born on March 2, 1932, she was the daughter of George Cathey Sr. and Katie (Honey) Cathey.

Ms. Haynie was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; Baby Cathey, Glen Cathey, George Cathey, Jr. and Boyce Cathey; and five sisters; Opal Ball, Norma Geyer, Alma French, Betty Koettel and Shirley Fisher. She is survived by two sisters, Clara Shipman of Bartlett, Tennessee and Annette Cathey of Newport, Arkansas.

She is also survived by one son, Kenneth Vasseau of Little Rock, one daughter, Linda (Steve) Bingham of Little Rock, one granddaughter, Sarah Bingham of Fort Collins, Colorado, and one grandson, Andy Bingham of Little Rock.

Ms. Haynie was retired from Westinghouse/Phillips Lighting.

A life-long member of the Church of Christ, Ms. Haynie was compassionate to those fortunate enough to be in her circle. She was always interested in what others were doing or what was going on in their lives.

There is a huge hole in our hearts and we will always love and cherish our precious mother and grandmother. Saying goodbye is too hard to do, so let’s just say “Until we meet again.”

My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:26.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
