1934 - 2023
David Ronald Kane was born on February 17, 1934, in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. He was the son of David and Clara Kane. His family relocated to Kansas City, Kansas in high school.
After graduating from Wyandotte High School, David attended the University of Kansas where he was a member of Phi Kappa Psi fraternity and played on the KU tennis team. In 1956, David went to work for IBM in Little Rock. After working for IBM and in the insurance industry, David eventually opened his own investment business. In his early years in Little Rock, David served in the civic organization, Jaycees’ and was a Marksman at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church.
David was in the Arkansas House of Representatives in the late 60’s. He was an aide to Governor Dale Bumpers after his term in the Legislature.
David’s passion was playing tennis a few times a week until he was 81. As an avid sports fan, he loved watching the Razorback’s and Jayhawk’s play football, basketball, baseball. He also tuned in to watch professional tennis and golf. If he could not get football and basketball games on the tv, he would pull out his transistor radio to listen to the games.
David passed away on Monday, August 7, 2023. He was predeceased by his parents, David and Clara Kane and his wife of 34 years, Nancy Kane. He is survived by his brother, Gene Kane (Jerre Jane); his children and stepchildren: Kathy Kane Couture (Brad), Mark Kane (Kathy), Darby Kane (Jana), Errin Stanger (Scott) and Lindsey Munroe. He has 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
