On Monday, October 29, 2018 Darrell Kay Wallraven, surrounded by his adoring family, left this earthly life and began his new life in heaven. He leaves behind his wife, Chris, of 47 years and two children, Justin Wallraven (Gladice) and Megan Young (Thomas) and six wonderful Grands who were the apple of his eye: Jaci Simmons, Gabe Young, Carson Cook, Ethan Wallraven, Henry Young and Zane Young. Also left to miss him are Darrell’s two devoted sisters: Shammy Rucker (Mike) and Allyssa Shirazi (Mohsen), four brothers in law Rob Cramer, Tom Cramer (Mary Ellen), Mark Cramer (Lynn), John Cramer (Sheryl), his sister in law Beth Cramer, his mother in law Rutti Cramer and a whole host of nieces and nephews.
Darrell was born on December 31, 1946 in Hobart, Oklahoma to Kenneth Carl Wallraven and Bettie Jeanne High Wallraven. His family moved to Oklahoma City when he was in the seventh grade and he later graduated from Putman City High School. He attended college at Oklahoma State University where he received a Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Administration. Upon graduating from college, Darrell went into the army as a Lieutenant and was stationed at Fort Sill, Oklahoma where he served as a Club Officer in the Officers Club. It was here that he met and soon married Chris and they began their life together. After completing two years in the army, the couple eventually settled in Little Rock. Darrell worked until 1992 as a manufacturer’s rep for Dallas Handbag Company. He then started his own business and worked it until he went to work for Chick-Fil-A in the spring of 2014.
Darrell spent his entire life putting smiles on other people’s faces. He could see the good in almost any person or situation and his enthusiasm and excitement was contagious. The world is a happier place because of how he lived and served other people. We will miss him every day of our lives but his legacy of laughter and love reassures us that he wants us to go on and live in joy…and we will. We love you, and we know you love us.
Memorial service for Darrell Wallraven will be held Monday, November 5, 2018 at 11:00 am at Otter Creek Community Church, 13,000 Quail Run Drive, Little Rock, Arkansas 72210.
