Amy Ellen Salkeld Brooks, 88, of Little Rock passed away September 23, 2024. She was born July 10, 1936 in Batesville, Arkansas to the late Elda Lynn and Lillie Edna (Galloway) Salkeld. In addition to her parents, Amy was welcomed into Heaven by her husband, Sanford “Sandy” Brooks Jr.; her siblings, Ernest (Reva Nell) Salkeld, Frank Salkeld, Maxine (Johnny) Clough, Juanita (Bill) Churchill, and Wilmer (Maxine) Salkeld. A graduate of Central High School in Little Rock, Amy dedicated much of her career to the Arkansas Public Safety Commission, where she fostered valuable relationships with lawmakers and advocates. After retiring, she continued to collaborate with former colleagues on a part-time basis. Known for her vibrant spirit and sociable nature, Amy loved attending events like the annual Firemen’s Ball and embraced the socialite lifestyle. She had a remarkable memory, particularly regarding her family’s history. Amy and Sandy loved going to the lake (especially Lakes Maumelle and Quachita), boating, fishing and visiting with friends. Those left to cherish the memories of Amy include her niece and caregiver, Pam Salkeld; sister-in-law, Jenny Salkeld-Pearce; as well as numerous nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.
