Sharon H. Potter, 79 passed away peacefully at her home in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina on Saturday September 23, 2023, with her husband of 60 years by her side. Sharie was born in Syracuse, New York as the only child to the late George Henry Heindorf and Margaret Cadin Heindorf.
Sharie graduated high school in 1962 from The Convent School. Following high school Sharie worked for The Addis Company out of Syracuse. In September of 1963 she married Donald C. Potter Jr. and together they ran and managed Best Distributing Beverage Company out of Watertown, New York. They spent the winters snow skiing and summers on Cayuga Lake at the cottage creating memories with family and friends. In 1979, they relocated to Charlotte, North Carolina where they founded Creative Floor Covering & Design. Sharie was a gifted interior designer and was the glue that held everything together. She was a member of St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church and Carmel Country Club for many years. In 2006, they moved to North Myrtle Beach, SC where she worked at Hope Taylor & Company and continued to make many friends who she considered family.
She was a dedicated and loving mother and grandmother, a devout Catholic who was deeply rooted in her faith and attended mass two or more times a week. She had a love for all animals but especially Labrador Retrievers. She lived an active lifestyle and enjoyed skiing, walking, tennis, golf, watching football, entertaining and cooking. She was her children and grandchildren’s biggest cheerleader, rarely missing a downhill ski race, football game or horse show. Her greatest joys in life were being the matriarch of the family, spending time with friends and supporting others.
Sharie is survived by her husband, Donald Charles Potter Jr., sons Donald Charles Potter III (Heather), Douglas Henry Potter, grandchildren Taylor Potter Connors (Drew), Tiffany Claire Potter, Basil Powers Alala, and August Ackerman Alala. She considered all of her many four-legged friends her family as well. She was loved dearly by all and will be forever missed.
A prayer service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at Lee Funeral Home and Crematory. A graveside service will be held on a later date at St. Mary's Cemetery in DeWitt, New York.
