I was stationed with Roger at Training Center Yorktown in the late 90s.  We played Softball together on the Base team.  A good guy, and a fine teammate.  I know that you will be missed.  Rest in well deserved peace my Brother Chief.

I was stationed with Roger, in the late 80s. He was a good man, and I learned a lot from him. RIP, Roger. Fair winds and following seas.

I met Roger before he was Chief Jones, at Station Oak Island, NC. I was a young Boatswain's Mate First Class and he was an "old" Machinery Technician Second Class. Still, he was such an amiable person that we quickly gained trust, and developed a friendship. He did have an interesting sense of humor, though. We had a young Seaman Apprentice come to the station just out of basic training. Ricky was a little nervous about things but he tried hard. One day, we had to make a trip to Frying Pan light station, 35 miles offshore. Roger decided he would mess with the guy. So, he started to tell him he was looking a little green and asking him if he felt okay. "I don't know,  Ricky, are you sure you're all right?" For about 15 miles, he was just fine, but Roger got in his head. We were about halfway when he tossed his cookies. 
He would mess around like that, but all of us knew we could count on him when it was time to do the work. 

We were a trio, me Allen Swicegood and Roger.  So many fond memories of our times together.  I also spent a lot of time in the Jones family home  with Roger's parents and brothers and sisters.  He was a great friend!

Carol,  I am sorry to hear about Roger. 
It is so hard to say good bye to those we love.   I remember Roger as always being so funny.    If you had a class with Roger, you were guaranteed to have fun.  He was a great guy.   May God hold you extra close during this sad time.

Roger and I  were classmates at Cool Spring high school 1963. I have great memories of Roger anc our class.. He served his country honorably and retired in the Coast Guard. Well done Roger. Rest in peace, my friend and classmate..
