Michael Lane Buck, 68, passed away at home on Sunday, December 15, 2024. His devoted wife and sons were by his side. Born on January 30, 1956, in Lima, Ohio, Michael was a son of the late Donald K. and the late Joan Marie Yoakam Buck.
Following graduation from Anderson High School, Michael joined the US Army before beginning his career in manufacturing. In April 1979, Michael met and quickly fell in love with Lori L. McCreary. The two were married on September 30, 1979, in Norwood, Ohio. They were blessed with two children and five grandchildren.
Michael retired in 2015 from Exel Logistics where he was an Industrial Electrician, specializing in programing. Michael was an avid golfer who not only played golf but played it well. He loved the beach even if he insisted on being under the shaded umbrella and he and Lori were enthusiastic shag dancers. He and Lori were familiar with the beaches in North and South Carolina since they vacationed there since their children were young, so following his retirement, they moved to Shallotte, NC and in 2021, they made Little River their home. Michael worked part-time in the Pro Shop at Meadowlands Golf Course. He gained a whole new family and friends at the course. He loved his family and spending time with his children. Becoming “Grandpa” to his first four grandchildren and “Pa-Paw” to his last granddaughter, was the greatest blessings bestowed upon him. He truly embraced those titles. His love of family was undeniable. Along with his immediate family, Michael also had dear friendships with his siblings, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews as well as their spouses.
In addition to his wife Lori, Michael is survived by his sons, Michael Stephen Buck (Amanda) and Jason Donald Buck; grandchildren, Kody (fiancé, Emma), Kaden, KJ, Kamdyn and Kendra; brother Scott Buck (Brenda) and sister, Sharon Bard. Also surviving Michael are his nieces, Amie Rivera (Jay), Frances Schoenung; nephews, Richard Schoenung, Nicholas Klawitter and Ben Klawitter; great niece, Victoria Cruz (Eddie); great nephews, Joey Goff (Stephanie), Lucas Schoenung, and Avery Schoenung.
The family will receive family and friends on Friday, December 27, 2024 at Lee Funeral Home and Crematory from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. with services at 12:30. A Celebration of Life to follow at the Heather Glen Clubhouse, 425 McAlister, Little River SC 29566.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to be made in Michael’s memory to the Down Syndrome Association of Greater Cincinnati, 4623 Wesley Ave, Cincinnati, OH 45212, https://www.dsagc.com or the Coastal Cancer Center of Myrtle Beach, 8121 Rourk Street, Myrtle Beach, SC 29572.
